Is Taylor Swift's latest fashion item a hint at her forthcoming re-recording? That's what fans are thinking after her most recent appearance in New York City. The "Karma" singer and her lover Joe Alwyn were spotted on a stroll in New York City on Oct. 17 ahead of the release of her album Midnights. Swift, 32, grinned while wearing a long black sweater, plaid skirt, and black tights next to Alwyn, 31, who was dressed in a long-sleeved green sweater, blue pants, and spectacles.

The purse is one of the "oldest in [Swift's] collection and debuted back in October 2010," according to Taylor Swift Style, a fan-run style site dedicated to the singer. Swift's dress, especially her grey tights, also has a remarkable resemblance to styles she wore during her Speak Now era, according to admirers.

Swift recently revealed the Midnights release week itinerary on social media, which featured a midnight Friday drop, followed by a "special highly crazy surprise" at 3 a.m. EST. Fans have subsequently speculated on TikTok about the "surprise," which might be a double album, a documentary, or an announcement of her upcoming re-recording.

Swift launched goods based on 1989 and Speak Now on her website during the summer, leading fans to assume that 1989 (Taylor's Version) and Speak Now (Taylor's Version) may be on the way. She later astonished fans by announcing the release of her tenth studio album, Midnights, during her acceptance speech at the MTV VMAs in August.

Swift is known for her complex Easter eggs in music videos and lyrics, but she has also been known to tease new songs through her attire. "Easter eggs may be laid on clothing or jewellery," she previously told Entertainment Weekly in advance of her Lover album's release. "This is one of my favourite methods because you wear something that foreshadows something else, and people don't always realise it right away, but they sense you're definitely sending a message. They'll find it out in due course."
