According to the brand, each debut bag has been created to have its "unique individuality" while adhering to the "unmistakable Malone Souliers style" and enabling the label to extend its typical shoe-designing skills into new mediums. The Audrey is a chic square bag with "metropolitan appeal" that has a flap closure and a crystallised crest clasp. The Rita is a party-ready mini shopper fashioned in a hexagonal shape from shimmering Nappa leather. There are four styles in the collection, each available in two different colours and finishes.
Ingrid bucket bag, which has "statement-making metallic handles" and a ruched design made of soft Nappa leather, and Vivien clutch bag, which has a crest buckle. In a statement, Mary Alice Malone, the company's founder and creative director, said: "Shoes and bags are interwoven in our collective fashion fantasy. Since Malone Souliers has grown to be associated with high-end footwear, handbags were always going to follow closely.
"With this collection, we were able to push ourselves into uncharted territory and tackle the challenge with excitement and hope. This was a chance to apply our rigorous production procedures and sharply developed style to a new field." The inaugural bag collection by Malone Souliers is available online and at its main shop on London's Mount Street. The Vivien handbag costs 595 pounds, while the Audrey in brown leather with an embossed crocodile print design costs 950 pounds.
