Sarah Jessica Parker's famous character elevated the brand's notoriety overnight when she stated, "I misplaced my Choo," while seeking for a boat on Staten Island. Since its inception in 1996, Jimmy Choo has been regarded for embodying the contemporary zeitgeist and redefining refinement. While maintaining its fame and image as one of the world's most prized shoemakers, the brand expanded its excellent design and sculptural sensibility to striking bags and became a global accessories brand.
The Varenne Avenue quilted series is the newest addition to the Jimmy Choo handbag family. The cutting-edge craftsmanship and multi-functional design capture the spirit of the brand's muse's glamorous world and evoke the cosmopolitan cities where they live, work, and vacation. Sandra Choi, as she takes us through the innovative spirit and time-honored techniques behind Varenne Avenue, believes that the handbag speaks to their dynamic life and appetite for wanderlust.
Sandra Choi (SC): Jimmy Choo handbags have been a part of the collections since 2004 and have evolved with each season. Handbags frequently transfer codes from the collection's shoes, which might be the material, hardware, or colour palette. The handbags compliment the shoes while also standing out on their own. Our Varenne family was released in the fall of 2019 and has since evolved. The Jimmy Choo muse is confident, optimistic, and playful, and the Varenne evolution reflects this, bringing modern glamour to life. Each season, we introduce new colorways and fabrics, making it exciting for our community to build their Varenne family collections.
SC: It builds on the popularity of our existing Varenne range of handbags with the JC monogram. The rigid design of the bag needed substance and tactile comfort. The Avenue quilting pattern adds graphic depth and richness to Varenne's trademark personality. The linear design is inspired by our urban environment, the streets we walk every day, hoping with each step of getting somewhere full of surprise.
SC: Jimmy Choo's matelassé design is a bold visual and linear pattern that contrasts with the tactile softness generated by the quilting. The JC monogram gold hardware made its debut in the Autumn 2019 collection. Our trademark, the faceted interlocking brand initials, JC, are a sign of ownership. The colour scheme includes black, burgundy, gold, and candy pink. Pink is a key element for the autumn season, and it adds a whimsical personality to the Varenne Avenue family's classic form. Each component of the bag is created and assembled by hand in Italy; each bag has 45 components. This hand-finished piece guarantees that our quality remains consistent.
