The creative partnership between renowned sustainable designer Nicole McLaughlin and the Italian shoe company Diemme includes a shoe with a removable cover that doubles as a bag.
McLaughlin is renowned for shaping commonplace, unassuming objects to her imagination’s whim. She can change practically anything, such as tennis balls into oven mitts or JanSport backpacks into bras. Following a collaboration with Reebok in which she gave the Club C Geo Mid useful pockets, McLaughlin’s practical and creative approach unquestionably sharpens the cutting edge of repurposed footwear.
The release’s three replaceable uppers, which come in a true blue, a light beige, and a deep khaki colour scheme, are built upon a suede mule base. The adaptable bag is made of water-resistant ripstop, and instead of laces, it features convenient metallic clasps and toggles that let the wearer alter the bag’s size and fit.

The majority of Ms. McLaughlin’s designs are sold at charity raffles and auctions. She raised $20,000 in 2021 for the Slow Factory Foundation, an organisation dedicated to social justice and addressing climate change.
