Anita Dongre, the designer behind House of Anita Dongre, just debuted a collection of high-end vegan purses and belts. Additionally, there are handcrafted bags from the collection made from recycled glass beads.
The range includes the Haathi Belt, the Birds of a Feather Belt, the Nocturnal Glass Beaded Belt, the Birds of a Feather Crossbody Bag, the Nocturnal Glass Beaded Bag, and the Champagne Gold Glass Beaded Belt.
Mirum, a leather substitute created without plastic, is used to create the accessories. The new plant-based material is completely natural, contains no plastic, and is animal cruelty-free. Additionally 100% recyclable and bio-neutral, it leaves less of a carbon footprint when its use is finished. Internationally recognised designers like Ralph Lauren and Pangaia have incorporated this material throughout their creations.
According to a press release, Anita Dongre wants to buck the trend of luxury goods that are brutal to their suppliers by creating items that are both opulent and compassionate.
Anita Dongre said this about the collection: “This line is made for women who wear their ideals on their sleeve, a concept of fashion that incorporates conscientious, ethical, and timeless elegant pieces.”
She also disclosed that 5% of the sales from this line of accessories will go to the India Animal Fund, an organisation that aims to ensure that all animals receive the respect and consideration they merit.
Anita Dongre (née Sawlani), an Indian fashion designer, was born on October 3, 1963. She is the creator of the Indian fashion house known as House of Anita Dongre.
